Some Essential Notions About Homeopathy

Homeopathy

Homeopathy is a natural science and bio-energetic therapy that treats the whole person. It is a stand-alone health care system that utilizes the body’s own ability to heal itself.

Individually tailored, a homeopath will study the symptoms from all aspects of the person's life to determine the most correct remedy. Unlike conventional medicine, homeopathy does not see symptoms as the disease process per se. Instead, these are indicators of an underlying bio-energetic imbalance that is expressing itself through physical symptoms in the body.

Originating in Germany, by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, the underlying principle is the law of similars. For example when one peels an onion, the eyes become weepy, itchy, burning and the nose runny. Some forms of hay fever present similar symptoms. That being the case, the person presenting these symptoms would be treated with homeopathically prepared onion (Allium Cepa).

Homeopathic remedies are extremely safe having no side effects or adverse drug interactions with over the counter or prescription medications. Gentle and beneficial for pregnant women, children will also benefit as they help reinforce the immune system.

Best known for acute or emergency situations - Arnica for bruising, Hypericum for crush injuries and Chamomile for teething infants, homeopathy is also capable of providing in-depth healing.

Although, homeopathy is a complete health care system, it is not a substitute for a healthy lifestyle. It works best if the individual maintains proper nutrition, exercises regularly and utilizes other forms of energy work such as acupuncture, chiropractic or osteopathy. Together these therapies work at harmonizing the body’s own natural homeostatic mechanisms.
